El Club del Turro – El Chango Azul – Toro
El Chango Azul continues El Club del Turro’s mission of highlighting the flora and fauna surrounding Finca Neo Jibairo. This release is inspired by the “Chango” or Greater Antillean Grackle, a bird commonly seen throughout Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, yet often overlooked because of how common it is in everyday life.
Native to the Greater Antilles, the Chango is known for its striking iridescent black feathers, yellow eyes, intelligence, and adaptability. These birds are highly social and can often be seen moving in groups around farms and open fields. Despite being one of the most familiar birds on the island, their beauty and role within the ecosystem frequently go unnoticed.
Following the vision established with our first cigar release, the HVA featuring the iconic Guaraguao logo — an endemic Puerto Rican bird that forms part of the landscape surrounding Finca Neo Jibairo — El Chango Azul continues the story of honoring the nature that inspires our work.
This collaboration with Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic represents the same spirit of Caribbean unity once embraced by Eugenio María de Hostos alongside our Dominican brothers and sisters. Together, we continue keeping the Caribbean flame alive, just as we did with our Serie Santiago collection.
